VIT University sets Recruitment Record

VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) University, Vellore, declared last week that 7,947 job placement offers were made by five Information Technology  and Services companies during the in-campus Recruitment Drive. This is the highest number of jobs offered in one campus hiring.

The In-Campus Recruitment, that was held from September 1 to September 15, saw 5 IT giants offering over a 1,000 jobs each. The following is the break up of the results from the Recruitment Drive, as per the Press Release by the University:

• Cognizant Technology Solutions (CST): 1,914
• Tata Consultancy Services (TCS): 1,864
• Accenture: 1,472
• Infosys: 1,456
• Wipro: 1,241

The final results of the Recruitment made records, as this is the first time in India, that five companies hired over a 1,000 students from a single institution. Additionally, all the recruitment done by a few of these companies surpassed their previous records, which are as follows:

• Cognizant- 1,914 (previous highest – 1,911 (VIT-2015 batch)
• TCS -1,864 (previous highest – 1,755 (elsewhere-2012 batch)
• Infosys – 1,456 (previous highest – 1,452 (VIT-2015 batch)

The number of students placed in CST, at 1,914, were again a national record. This comes as no surprise as VIT has been a Limca Book of Records holder, for the highest number of placements, four times in the past.  VIT is said to be applying for Limca Book of Records for this year recruitment numbers as well. This leg of the academic calendar witnesses a frenzy among corporate and colleges alike, to maximize students placements, and ensure that the recruitment process smoothly.
