Securing good marks in 12th boards is the uttermost desire of every student. Because, no matter how you performed throughout your school life, your academic excellence is often judged by your board scores.

Obviously, I do not sit for the fact that it is wise. But, this is how it is.

Being  a 12th class student, studying, worrying, and praying must have become diurnal tasks for you. So, I have come up with a few helpful strategies to secure good marks in your board exams. While studying has no substitute and praying is a personal choice, these tips will certainly help you stop stressing out.

But, before I start with the preparation tips, cling to the fact that along with hard work, smart work is beneficial too. By this, I mean that not everything you come across is worth your attention. Rather, grab what suits you, helps you, and uplifts you. And leave the ones that don’t work for you.

So, keeping this advice in mind, check out the following preparation tips for scoring more than 95% marks in 12th board exams. Glom on to the ones that sound advantageous to you.

• Regularity

Scoring good in exams is a never ending desire of every student. But staying regular with your studies is something that everyone doesn’t do.  So, the foremost thing to do if you wish to score good in exams is study regularly.

Regular studies do not include classroom lectures and tuition classes. Regularity here stands for regular self-study sessions. Apart from all the lectures and classes, spare some time for self-study.

Make self-study a regular practice to score good in boards.  

• Take Your Internals Seriously

I often hear students talking about skipping their internals. Reason being… the scores do not get counted. No exams other than board exams are important.

Internals are nothing but a waste of time. In fact, low scores in internals barely kindle them.

And consequently, a majority of the students do not attempt them earnestly and with sufficient preparation.

But think rationally. Is that so really?

Aren’t they beneficial?

If you ask me, I am of the belief that internals is significant. They help in assessing one’s knowledge. They are the performance checkers.

Take them seriously. Attempt them as if they are your final exams. Don’t go for them with half-preparation. Instead, make use of them to identify your weaknesses and work on them.

• Maintain Proper Notes

Half an academic year is gone, and you haven’t started studying seriously for your boards. Right?… Nevermind.

• Focus On Course Books

It is evident that instead of finishing the course books, students jump on to reference books for their board’s preparations.

But, that is not the way to excel. It might sound paradoxical but, your course books (NCERT books) are sufficient to score good in boards.

So, go through your course books diligently. Practice well and mug-up all your lessons and topics.

• Follow A Timetable

Do anything, become anything in life. But, if you don’t respect your time, the time, too, will not respect you.

Manage your time wisely. Make a study timetable and clasp to it.

While framing your study schedule, divide your syllabus into pieces and allow a specific duration for all of them.

For instance-

• If you planned to study 5 hours a day during weekends, then divide those 5 hours into 2 or 3 sessions, as per your capabilities.

• Decide the subject and the topics that you wish to cover in a particular session.

• Make sure; you accurately define the outcome that you expect from your study sessions.

Correctly setting your goals, subjects & topics, and the time duration will make your study sessions more fruitful and concrete. So, while making your timetable, ensure that it is doable.

• Solve Previous Year Exam Papers

Of course, you’ll revise your syllabus, and I have no doubt in that. But, whether that revision will be enough to secure great percentage, well, that’s confusing.

See, whether it’s a board exam or any other exam, revision is indispensable. So, plan your sessions in a way that you are left with sufficient time to revise your syllabus.

Endeavor to review your syllabus at least thrice before exams. The first revision session will make you aware about how much you remember. The second will help in removing the loopholes. Whereas, the third will strengthen your concepts and understandings.

Above all, a well-rested mind increases your efficiency to perform a task. So, make sure that you take proper rest during and before your exam days. This will help you concentrate better and for longer periods.

However, other than these tips, I have a few more tips to share with you. These are the tips that you should keep in mind while attempting your exam. In fact, start implementing them in your internals. So that by the time your finals approach, you’re prepared.

A Few Tips to  Attempt a Paper Successfully

1. Try writing your answer with sub-heading or in points.
2. Use black pen for headings and sub-headings.
3. Make flow charts and diagrams wherever possible to support your answers.
4. Write an introduction and conclusion for your answers wherever possible.
5. Draw an ending line after every answer.
6. Pay attention to the proper numbering of your answers as wrong estimate, sometimes, lead to deduction of marks.
7. Leave appropriate space between words, sentence, and paragraphs.
8. Attempt all the questions.
9. Solve the questions you are confident about, first.
10. Be precise. Overflowing content makes your answer look vague. Follow the word limit. For instance- For 1 mark questions- 3 lines are enough; for 2  marks questions- keep it 4 to 5 lines, and for 5 marks question- 15 to 20 lines along with some diagram or flowchart will be good.
11. Once you are done with the paper, revise it thoroughly and highlight the important points or words. For instance- you can underline important words in paragraphs to grab the attention of the checker.
