A Complete List of Law Entrance Exams In India

At present, India offers a variety of law courses. And in most cases, the way to get admission to these law courses is through entrance exams.

There are a number of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate level competitive law entrance exams in India.

Appearing in these exam calls for having adequate knowledge about them. And this is what I am going to talk about in this article.

Here, I have mentioned a list of all the competitive law entrance exams in India.

Let’s Have a look at them. 

  • CLAT

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level law entrance examination. CLAT scores are considered by other private law colleges and Public Sector Undertakings for admissions and recruitment respectively. It is among the most popular competitive law entrance exams in India.

  • AILET Entrance Exam

All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a national level examination. It is conducted annually by National Law University, Delhi.

  • IPU CET LLB Entrance Exam

Like DU, GGSIPU, too, conducts its own entrance exam named IPU CET LLB, for selecting the eligible candidates. Therefore, candidates willing to pursue law from IP university need to qualify the respective entrance exam.

  • BHU Law Entrance Test/BLAT

Banaras Hindu University conducts a separate entrance exam for admission to UG and PG law courses. This entrance exam for law is conducted annually in the month of May or June.

  • ULSAT Entrance Exam

UPES Law Studies Aptitude Test is a university level entrance exam. This entrance test for law is conducted by University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. Qualifying this exam enables a student to take admission in undergraduate law courses offered by the university.

  • Christ University Law Entrance Exam

One of the prestigious university of the country, Christ University conducts its own admission tests. Its law entrance exam enables an individual to take admission to the UG law courses offered by the university. The exam is conducted annually.

  • JMI Law Entrance Exam

Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia University is responsible for conducting the law entrance exam. Qualifying this entrance exam for law enables an individual to take admission to UG law programmes offered by the university.

  • KLEE Entrance Exam

Kerala Law Entrance Examination (KLEE) is conducted by the Commission of Entrance Examination (CEE). It is a state level examination. The exam is conducted to select eligible candidates for admission to government law colleges in Kerala.

  • ILI CAT Entrance Exam

Indian law institute conducts ILI CAT for admission to LLM course. It is conducted annually. The exam is conducted in Delhi only. Students who wish to pursue LLM from ILI have to qualify this test.

  • LAT/LFAT/AU LLM Entrance Exam

Allahabad University conducts three exam, namely, LAT, LFAT, and AU LLM Entrance Exam for admission to its law courses. These exam are mandatory to take admission to LLB, B.A. LLB, and LLM courses respectively.

  • SET Law Entrance Exam

Symbiosis Entrance Test for Law or SET Law is a university level entrance exam. It is conducted annually by Symbiosis International University. Qualifying the entrance test allows a student to take admission in UG law courses offered by Symbiosis Law School in Noida, Pune, and Hyderabad.

  • MH CET Law Entrance Exam

MH CET Law is also known as Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Law. It is a state level exam, which is conducted annually. This exam is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Government of Maharashtra. Candidates who qualify this law entrance exam are eligible to take admission to the law college of Maharashtra state.

  • LSAT

Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a national level entrance test. It is conducted annually by Law School Admission council. It is a test of reading and verbal reasoning skills designed by the USA based Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for use by law schools in India.

  • KIITEE Law Entrance Exam

Admission to law courses of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology is done through KIITEE Law. It is a university level entrance test.

  • AMU Law Entrance Exam

Aligarh Muslim University Law Entrance Exam is a university level exam. University conducts this exam annually.

  • AIL LET Entrance Test

AIL LET is a university level exam. It is conducted by Army Institute of Law. Qualifying this exam enables the candidate to take admission in UG law courses offered by the institution.

  • PU LLB Entrance Test

PU LLB is a university level entrance test. It is conducted annually by Panjab University. Clearing this exam is mandatory for admission to LLB course offered by the university.

  • DU Law Entrance Exam

Candidates who wish to pursue their law education from Delhi University have to appear for the entrance Test. DU Law Entrance Test or DU LLB/LLM Entrance test is conducted annually by the university.

  • BVP CET Law

BVP CET law is conducted by Bharati Vidyapeeth University. It is conducted to select eligible candidates for admission to law courses in the affiliated colleges of the university.

  • TS LAWCET & TS PGLCET

TS LAWCET and TS PGLCET are state level law entrance examinations. Both the exams are conducted in the state of Telangana. Clearing this exam is obligatory to take admission to law courses in the state universities & their affiliated colleges.

  • ACLAT

Alliance Common Law Admission Test is a part of admission process of Alliance University. The university conducts this exam annually. Students who wish to pursue law education from the university have to clear this exam.

  • AP LAWCET & AP PGLCET

Candidates who wish to pursue law from the state of Andhra Pradesh have to qualify AP LAWCET & AP PGLCET for UG and PG law courses respectively.

  • Calcutta University B.A. L.L.B. Entrance Exam

Calcutta University B.A. L.L.B. Entrance Exam is a state level exam. Candidates who clear this exam are eligible to take admission in the colleges of Calcutta.

  • CUSAT CAT LAW

CUSAT CAT LAW is a university level entrance test. Candidates who wish to pursue law education from the Cochin University of Science & Technology have to clear this exam.

  • RULET (Rajasthan University Law Entrance Test)

Rajasthan University Law Entrance Test (RULET) is a state level entrance exam. It is conducted by Rajasthan University for admission to B.A. LLB and LLB courses.

  • ILSAT/ITLA

ICFAI Law School Admission Test is a university level entrance test. It is conducted annually by ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education. Qualifying ILSAT enables a candidate to pursue law education from ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education.

  • HPNET

Himachal Pradesh National Entrance Test (HPNET) is conducted by H.P National Law University, Shimla. The exam aims to select eligible candidates for admission to undergraduate law courses in the university.

  • SAAT

Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test is a national level admission test. It is conducted by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University. Candidates willing to pursue UG or PG course from the university have to clear this exam.

  • LPU NEST Law Entrance Test

LPU NEST is a National Entrance and Scholarship Test. It is conducted by Lovely Professional University. It is a national level test. Candidates who wish to pursue law education from the university have to qualify this test.

  • GNDU CET

Guru Nanak Dev University Common Entrance Test For Law is a university level test. It is managed by the Department of Law of the university. Candidates who wish to pursue UG or PG law courses from the university have to qualify this exam.

  • GLC CET

Government Law College Common Entrance Test (GLC CET) is conducted by Government Law College. It is conducted to take admission in LLB (3 years) and LLB ( 5 years) courses offered by the college.
