Government jobs have always been a preferred choice among Indian parents.
Teaching, Railways, UPSC, and banks being the most revered of all. The major reasons behind such inclination being: job security, handsome salary, low work pressure, and various allowances.
A few years back, students did not seem so positive about opting government jobs. Notions like government job means sluggish or no personal growth made them look down upon these jobs.
However, now the scenario is quite different. And, so, before informing about the top govt. job exams after graduation, I want you to get rid of the general myths associated with government sector jobs:
Myth 1: There is rarely any work pressure in government jobs
The government is taking severe actions to deal with inefficient and non-performing employees. As per the 7th Pay Commission, the union government has ceased providing an increment to underperforming employees.
Myth 2: Government jobs pay better than private sector jobs
Entry-level jobs in government jobs pay fairly better than the private sector. A 10th or 12th pass peon can easily earn around 20k in the government sector. While others like accountants, auditors, and income-tax officers can earn anywhere between 35k to 40k excluding the perks.
However, the scope for growth of this income is quite limited. While in private sector, a competent employee can easily jump from 25k to 1 lakh, within a period of 5 years, in government sector this growth is way more slow. This could be frustrating for any efficient employee.
Besides, in government jobs, there are barely any recognition and rewards for good work. However, government is constantly developing measures to get rid of this scenario.
So, government jobs have their own merits and demerits. They do not provide chances of rapid financial growth, but they offer many perks, medical, travel, and accommodation allowances to name a few. They involve work pressure but not so much that you can’t enjoy family life.
Now that you are aware of the pros and cons of taking up a government job, here is a list of government exams after graduation. Go through their details, and if you are determined to take a good government job, start preparing for them right away.
