Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has revamped its Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam structure by eliminating the interview round and introducing two additional papers, i.e. TIER III and TIER IV.

SSC CGL TIER III

TIER III is a descriptive writing paper. Candidates can attempt it in any of the two languages: Hindi and English. 

As SSC is conducting the TIER III paper for the first time, it is hard to predict the difficulty level. However, it is never wise to underestimate a challenge.

So, to ace the  SSC CGL exam, you need to diligently prepare for the TIER III paper.

What does the SSC CGL TIER III paper cover?

The paper is designed to test a candidate’s writing skills. It would contain questions on essay writing, application/letter writing, precis writing, etc.

As the paper is being conducted for the first time, we cannot predict the exact paper pattern.

What is the mode of the SSC CGL TIER III & Tier IV paper?

It is a pen and paper based exam.

Total Marks:

The total marks for the paper will be 100.

Paper Duration:

Tips To Prepare For SSC CGL TIER III & Tier IV Exam

  • Whenever you are preparing English for SSC CGL, for any paper: TIER I/II/III, start reading reputed newspapers, specially the editorial section.
  • The best newspapers to refer are The Hindu and Hindustan Times. Candidates who wish to attempt the exam in Hindi can read newspapers like Navbharat Times and Dainik Jagran.
  • A quora user, Brajesh Prasad, put forth a great advice for writing compelling essays. He says: Regularly reading a reputed newspaper will give you all that you need for this exam:
  • It will enlarge your vocabulary.
  • It will strengthen your grammar.
