Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore or IITI), located in Madhya Pradesh, is an institute of national importance established by the Government of India in 2009. It is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 which declares these eight IITs as well as the conversion of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University to IIT. The foundation of the permanent campus, spread over an area of around 510-acre. Presently, IIT Indore is functioning from two locations: first one at IET-DAVV Campus (Khandwa Road) and another at PACL Campus (Hardnia Khedi Village, Indore-MHOW Road). IET-DAVV Campus have Administrative offices including Director's Secretariat, Registrar's office, Offices of the Dean of Faculty Affairs (DoFA), Dean of Planning and Administration (DoPA), Materials Management section and Finance and Accounts Section. The School of Basic Sciences and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences are also functioning from this campus. There are various basic sciences labs established in this campus. PACL campus, have Academic office including offices of Dean of Academic Affairs (DoAA) and Dean of Research and Development (DoRD). The School of Engineering is functioning at PACL campus. There are various engineering labs are established in this campus. The Central Library is located in the both the campuses. IIT Bombay is the mentor of IIT Indore. To coordinate various activities in connection with the establishment of the new IIT at Indore, Devang Khakhar, Director of IIT Bombay, mentor director of IIT Indore set up a Cell comprising Convener and several senior Faculty of IIT Bombay.
