IISER 2017: Application Form, Admission Details, Eligibility, Exam Date, & Syllabus

IISER 2017 will be conducted for admission to any of seven IISERs set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. It is mandatory for candidates to qualify the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research Entrance Exam 2017 to take admission to BS-MS degree offered by these IISERs. BS-MS is a five-year degree program for bright and motivated undergraduate science students.

IISER 2017 Eligibility:

The candidates who have passed 12th in 2016 (with Science stream) are eligible to apply. However, candidates appearing for 12th boards this year are also eligible to apply for IISER 2017.

Below check the detailed eligibility conditions for IISER 2017.

There are three channels of admission. Candidates will be admitted to IISER only through these channels.

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel

  • Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (JEE) channel

  • State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) channel

These channels will be referred to as KVPY, JEE and SCB respectively

Indian nationals and students belonging to PIO or OCI category are eligible to apply provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria described below.

KVPY Channel

Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from the 2017-18 academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut-off criteria may be applicable.

JEE Channel

Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2017 are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank would be used. Additional cut-off criteria may be applicable.

SCB Channel

Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream in 2016 or 2017 with marks equal or above the cut-off percentage in their respective boards as given in the table below are eligible to apply. For the candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer of the Other Backward Classes (OBCNC) and Persons with Disability (PD) categories, there is a 5% relaxation. The cut-off percentage for the Scheduled Castes (SC), the Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates is 55% in (10+2) level for all boards. Students applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various centers across the country. How to Apply for IISER 2017:

Candidates are required to apply online for the test.

IISER 2017 Application Form:

  • There are three channels available for admission into IISER:

  • KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana),

  • JEE (Indian Institute of Technology JEE Advanced) and

  • SCB (State and Central Boards).

  • Candidates can apply for admission through more than one channels, provided you meet the required eligibility criteria. 

  • Each channel requires a separate online application and payment of application fees.

  • Candidates are required to apply through the online form available on the official website. IISER 2017 application form will be displayed on the official website on the given date.

IISER 2017 Application Fee:

  • The application fee for IISER 2017 is Rs. 2000/- for the OBCNC and general category candidates.

  • For candidates applying under SC/ST category, Kashmiri Migrants and physically handicapped candidates, IISER 2017 application fee would be Rs. 1000/-.

  • The IISER 2017 application fee will be non-refundable. All payments will be accepted through secure payment gateway on the IISER 2017 application portal.

IISER 2017 Exam Pattern:

IISER 2017 exam pattern is mentioned in detail below:
• Multiple-choice questions in four subjects –- Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics with equal weightage
• 15 questions in each subject (total: 60)
• Duration: 180 minutes
• Evaluation: +3 (correct response), 0 (no response), -1 (wrong response)
