Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2017: Application Form, Pattern, Syllabus


Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2017), conducted by IIT Bombay for the admission to the postgraduate programme in Design (M.Des). The course is offered by various alleged institutions such as IITs, IISc Bangalore., the students are also admitted to the Ph.D course in design, through this exam. This test displays the candidate’s aptitude for design through drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, communication skills and visual perception ability.

Last Date To Apply: November 11, 2016

                                    November 18, 2016 with the late fee RS 500/-

A CEED score does not guarantee the admission in any of the institutions.

Eligibility Criteria for CEED 2017


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/Design/Interior Design or equivalent (4 years programme after 10+2).

  • Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or 4 years programme after intermediate).

  • Bachelor in Fine arts (B.F.A) degree of 4 years

  • Those appearing/completed 5-year programme of G.D. Art after class 10 with minimum one year of experience

  • There is no age limit.

Application Process, CEED 2017:

Candidates can register for the exam by logging in to  http://ceed.iitb.ac.in

Certificates/Documents To Be Uploaded:

  • Recent coloured photograph (.jpg file)

  • Scanned copy of your Signature (.jpg file)

  • Valid and scanned copy of the caste certificates, if any.For more.

Registration Fees:

  • For SC/ST/PwD and Women Candidates – Rs. 1,100/-

  • For Foreign and Other Candidates – Rs. 2,200/-

Syllabus, CEED 2017:



Exam Pattern:

Part A:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT) of one hour.

  • The test  contains total 50 questions divided into 3 sections. First section contains 5 questions, second section contains 10 questions the third section contains the rest of the 35 questions.

  • Negative marking of 0.6 marks in the first and third sections, no provision of negative marking in second section.

  • Every right answer contains 2 marks.


The candidates who clears the Part A examination will be eligible for the Part B examination.


Part B:

  • It is a pen and paper based test of 2 hours.

  • Candidate’s skills in drawing and designing will be measured.
