Delhi Administration in 1967, set up a constituent college of University of Delhi named Maitreyi College. The name of the college is derived from a great scholar of the Vedic age, the wife of sage Yajnavalakya. Maitreyi was an empowered woman determined to reach the stage of self-actualisation through knowledge. It is said that when her husband gave her a choice between knowledge and worldly possessions, she proudly chose knowledge in an instant. The college's prime motive has always been to imbibe these values into the education system and inculcate the same in its students. The college offers various undergraduate and post graduate courses only for women in all major disciplines- Science, Commerce and Arts. The college began its journey with only seventeen teachers offering just 2 courses- B.A(Pass) and B.Sc(general). But today, we can see the result of the rapid progress, both in size and stature that the college has undergone. The college's present day campus is a beautiful one spread over an area of 10 acres in Chanakya Puri. The college proudly boasts about its highly qualified faculty of 125 teachers and 93 members for administrative support. Maitreyi firmly stands as one of the most prestigious colleges in the South Campus of University of Delhi.

The infrastructure is undoubtedly one of the best in the university and was recently awarded the best garden by DU. The college excels not only in academics with a number of courses to choose from, but also advances in sports. The canteen offers delicious food at student friendly prices.
Read full reviewThe Infrastructure of Maitreyi College is very good and students feel it’s much better than the most other DU colleges. Although the campus is not too big, it is pretty with gardens surrounding the typical Delhi style Red bricks building.
Read full reviewThe college has Beautiful garden with rare flowers. With Big campus but poor infrastructure. The canteen is extremely nice and affordable. There are total four beautiful open lawns and a huge library. The college is located in chanakyapuri right in front of Jesus and Mary college. The faculty is highly educated and helpful.
Read full reviewThe college is great. Infrastructure is great and is located in best locality. Taj CCD is an everyday place to hang out for maitreyi girls. Everything about college is great from faculty to campus to canteen. And not to forget the crowd which is the cherry on the top. The fashion society Galore is one of the best societies in Delhi University.
